Lot's of Changes!

Wow!  No post since November?  Well, there have been so many things going on in the past 6 months, that it was just impossible for me to keep up with it all!  Of course there was Christmas, that keeps us all busy.  Then there was packing for our move and the move itself.  We are now here in Utah, and LOVE it!  It is so beautiful, and such a fun, yet different experience to be living in our own house.  We are finally mostly settled in, although there is still the last pile of boxes that I don't want to go through yet!  Maybe later:)

I have also opened a new shop on Zibbet in addition to my Etsy shop.  It is going to be my "Seasonal" shop.  I don't keep my seasonal items on Etsy year round, and so thought it would be great to have Mother's Day Cards, Father's Day Cards, Christmas, Easter, Etc, available year round!  I also have included my birth announcements, since they are made to order!  I LOVE my job!!

I have added "tabs" at the top of this page, where you can click directly on "Etsy Shop" or "Zibbet Shop"  and it will take you there.  I hope you will stop and take a peek!  Have a blessed day!

The Story behind the Wall Paper :)

One of the things you will notice right now about the things in my shop is that a LOT of them say they are made using WALL PAPER! Some people have asked "what is the wall paper all about?" And, so I thought I would share the back story on that...and why you will be seeing a LOT more products made with wall paper in my shop!
Here are a couple items from my shop that are made using wall paper.

One of my previous jobs was at Home Depot. I worked there for 6 years...and it got me through college, and I still worked there the first year or so of my marriage, while I worked at the preschool. I even met my husband there:) I was his supervisor!! (Nothing has changed..lol)
While working there, one of the departments had wall paper sample books...and when new books came out, they would just throw away the old books. So, I was able to accumulate 3 books of wall paper samples (which is soooo sad, since one week while I was gone, they got rid of ALL of the books since they quit selling wall paper!) I could have had 100 or more books...but oh well, storage would be an issue if that were the case:) The books are really big, if you haven't seen one before...probably 20x20" or so, maybe bigger.
Anyway, I have had the 3 books now for at least 4-5 years...and my original plan was to use them to make my cards...so last year I started dabbling in making cards with the wall paper, and this year I have continued to expand on that, and hope to have the majority of items in my shop made using the wall paper. However, once it's gone...it's gone! And, I will have to make my cards using regular paper again:(
I am anxious to use up the wall paper from these books for a couple reasons...
1)They make truly unique cards...cant find paper like this anywhere else! (Well, maybe on your wall!)
2)I have moved twice now with these books in tow...and it would be nice to not have to move them again. ( Dont think that will happen though since we will be moving again in about a year...but I can try!)
So...that is the story on the wall paper...not much to it, but offers more of an explanation as to why on earth I am using wall paper for my cards! If you want to see more, please check out my shop, and keep an eye open for more, as I have plenty more coming!!

Scrap Paper Clean Up!!

One of my favorite materials to work with is PAPER! As is evident in a lot of my work since it is generally made from paper:) But...one of the things that tends to happen is that there are left overs when I make other projects or scrapbook. Many people might throw away the leftovers, or recycle them...but not me! I like to use my paper to the very end...to where there is no possible way to get any more of anything out of it!~

With all that said, that leaves me quite the box full of scrap paper, and the conundrum of what to do with all of it! Below is a pic of the box of paper, and some of the most recent projects that I have been working on using ONLY my scrap paper. There are other projects that I have already done, (see my fairy tags or my unicorn tags in my Etsy shop) and by the looks of the box there will be plenty more coming! Stay tuned!

This is a set of 8 cards that each measure 3x3" Made only using my scrap paper!

This is a set of 6, 3x3 Mini cards that were also made using my leftovers. These are great for many things...maybe you just need a quick little card for a gift, or they are also great for sending a sweet little note in your child's lunch box...what a nice surprise for them come lunch time! I am always in need of a little card or gift tag, so these are very nice to have handy!

Both of these sets of cards will be listed in my etsy shop, so feel free to stop by...comments are always welcome and appreciated! Hope you have a wonderful day!!

It's Been a While!

So, it has been a while since I have been on here to add any posts. I guess life with two little ones, a husband, an etsy shop, and lots of scrapbooking to do keeps me too busy to update this all the time! I do want to try more often to get on here with updates and fun things, and so will try to put forth more effort! Today, I added the Etsy Mini to the top of my blog, so that you can see the most recent items that I have added to my Etsy shop...My most recent endeavors have been the SHAKER BOXES:) They are so much fun to make, and I plan to make many more! So, check these out, and keep an eye out for more coming soon. Have a fabulous Friday, and a safe weekend:)
